The Baltimore natives are currently amidst a nationwide tour in support of their latest LP, Pizazz, and have been consistently selling out venues, night after night, across the nation. This weekend was no exception, and the Saturday night rager marked the band’s largest headlining gig to date. The night was also full of surprises, with the announcement made by Greg “Scrambled Greg” Ormont that Pigeons will be joining moe. at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre July 12th (see official announcement here). The newly announced show is somewhat of a rescheduling, as the bands were originally scheduled to perform together last summer, though the gig was abruptly canceled following bassist Rob Derhak’s diagnosis with cancer and the start of moe.’s sudden hiatus. On Saturday night, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong got settled in from the drop of the first note with a “Walk Outside” opener, followed by a funked-out “Porcupine”, with lighting designer Manny Newman showcasing his unique and mind-bending approach on the lights. By way of a rhythmic break, the song dropped into the bubbly and feel-good “Totally”, with guitarist Jeremy Schon fully locked in while leading the quartet into deep jam territory. Drummer Alex “Gator” Petropulos and bassist Ben Carrey laid down the steady backbone, allowing Schon and guitarist Greg Ormont to comfortably hop in and out of the main groove on the drop of a dime.Pigeons Playing Ping Pong offered up a tasty palindrome next, with “Horizon” > “I Wanna Be Like You” > “Bare Necessities” > “I Wanna Be Like You” > “Horizon”. The band seamlessly wove in and out of “Horizon” and “I Wanna Be Like You”, driving the crowd into a frenzy with their cover of “Bare Necessities” from Disney’s The Jungle Book. This past New Year’s Eve in Covington, KY, the band offered up a Disney-themed setlist, and clearly, enjoyed the compositions enough to incorporate them into their recent setlists. The psychedelic rock number “Whirled” was up next. Kicking the tempo up a few notches, Schon took advantage of the solid rhythmic base, shredding to multiple dramatic peaks before dropping back into the songs main theme. A silky-smooth “Julia” followed, highlighted by Ormont’s powerful and charismatic vocals, before “Avalanche” brought the first set to a close.Pigeons Playing Ping Pong returned after set-break with “Fade Fast”. During the beginning of the song, Ormont and Schon stepped side by side to the front of the stage and offered up their take on how a couple of birds would dance. With Ormont, Schon, and Carrey laying down a captivating three-part harmony, the band spread the wings and soared into space, before dropping into “Melting Lights”. With a shoulder-to-shoulder sold-out crowd, the enthusiastic room lent a helping hand to the band on vocals, before Schon stepped to the front of the stage and offered up a mean solo.“Pigs (3 Different Ones)” featured more funky and gritty vocals from Ormont and saw Schon once again showcase his agility and creativity as he offered up a roaring guitar solo. At the center of Pigeon’s second set was an extended “Poseidon”. With Ormont providing the vocals, the quartet meticulously wove through “Poseidon”, as Petropulos brought the jam home with monstrous hits on the skins.“Couldn’t We All” came next, before the bouncy familiar groove of “Dawn A New Day” rang out. The energy onstage was contagious and the audience helped Pigeons Playing Ping Pong celebrate their biggest feat in grandiose fashion–selling out the beloved Ogden Theatre in Denver. “Ocean Flows” brought the second set heater to a close, with the Rocky Mountain high audience begging for more. After a brief break, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong returned for their encore, as the crowd exploded with excitement and approval. Pigeons treated Denver with a blazing two-song encore, with “Bad For You” and ending with “Doc”.You can check out the full setlist from Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s two-set Saturday night funk-fest below, as well as a photo gallery from Silky Shots.Setlist: Pigeons Playing Ping Pong | Ogden Theatre | Denver, CO | 3/10/18I: Walk Outside, Porcupine, Totally, Horizon > I Wanna Be Like You > Bare Necessities > I Wanna Be Like You > Horizon > Whirled, Julia, AvalancheII: Fade Fast, Melting Lights > Pigs (3 Different Ones) > Poseidon, Couldn’t We All, Dawn A New Day, Ocean FlowsE: Bad For You, DocPigeons Playing Ping Pong | Ogden Theatre | Denver, CO | 3/10/18 | Photos: Silky Shots Load remaining images

Four minutes later Abraham poked Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s cross against the post before Demarai Gray shot wide as England threatened more goals. The hosts dictated the tempo of the game early on but needed a second goal to underline their dominance. Abraham almost found it after 33 minutes, only for Liam Smith to block his snap shot.In the first half Scotland barely looked like the side which upset Holland, with West Brom’s £15m man Oliver Burke and the St Mirren striker Lewis Morgan anonymous. About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say Arsenal hero Petit: I laugh at Emery’s weak, average defenceby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveArsenal hero Emmanuel Petit says manager Unai Emery’s defence isn’t good enough.Petit claims that Arsenal’s biggest weakness is their “average defence’ and ultimately that will undermine Emery’s chances of success this season. He told Paddy Power: “In defence they are weak, they’re average. They make individual and collective errors. Sometimes you have to laugh. They injuries are not an excuse, most of the players who stepped in are internationals.“The quality they had been showing vanished (at Brighton) and it became obvious what their weakest link was – the defence.“I don’t know what’s going on with some of these players. During the long unbeaten run you thought Arsenal are back on track.”But now I look back at the number of those games in which they were lucky and, suddenly, reality returned.“They need to raise their game mentally on Saturday. I’ve seen glimpses of improvement compared to previous years but you can’t perform for just half an hour against Liverpool. You need to be fully switched on for 90 minutes, especially away from home.“If Arsenal go to Anfield thinking they can just keep plodding away the way they have been, it’s over – they’ll leave the stadium with three or four goals against them.”

NEW ORLEANS — A Louisiana judge says a company building an oil pipeline through south Louisiana trespassed on the land of three people challenging the construction — but he allowed the work to continue and awarded each of the three $150 in compensation and damages.Judge Keith Comeaux’s ruling Thursday disappointed opponents of the nearly complete Bayou Bridge Pipeline, who said they would appeal.Opponents had hoped the St. Martinville-based judge would order the pipeline removed from the relatively small amount of land involved, a fraction of a 38-acre (15-hectare) tract. Barring that, they had hoped for a major damage award to discourage what they said was the illegal taking of land.Energy Transfer Partners, the project owner, has said the 162-mile (260-kilometre) pipeline is expected to be operational by year’s end.Kevin McGill, The Associated Press
MILAN — If Italy’s fashion capital has a predominant colour, it is grey — not only because of the blocks of neoclassical stone buildings for which the city is celebrated, but also due to its often-grey sky, which traps pollution. But Milan now wants to shift its colour palette toward green. The city has ambitious plans to plant 3 million new trees by 2030 — a move that experts say could offer relief from the city’s muggy, sometimes tropical weather.Projects like architect Stefano Boeri’s striking Vertical Forest residential towers, completed in 2014 near the Garibaldi train station, aim to improve not only air quality but the quality of life for Milan residents.Colleen Barry, The Associated Press
ORLANDO, Fla. — SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. says it has been notified that the U.S. Department of Justice is ending its probe into whether company officials misled investors about the negative impact the documentary “Blackfish” was having on its business. In September, SeaWorld and two former executives agreed to pay more than $5 million to settle federal fraud claims brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission alleging they had made misleading statements about the documentary’s impact. The Orlando-based theme park company said Wednesday in a SEC filing that Justice Department has now notified the company that it won’t take any action.Attendance and revenue declined after the release of the 2013 documentary about the life of Tilikum, an orca that killed a SeaWorld trainer during a performance in Orlando in 2010.The Associated Press
New Delhi: The Delhi Police Monday told a court here that authorities were yet to give requisite sanctions to prosecute former JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and others in a 2016 sedition case. On January 14, police had filed a charge sheet in the court against Kumar and others, saying he was leading a procession and supported seditious slogans raised on the JNU campus during an event on February 9, 2016. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Sherawat told the police that they could have filed the charge sheet after procuring the sanctions. I can go ahead with the case,” the judge said Police told the court that it would take two to three months to procure the sanctions. The court also sought a report from the deputy commissioner of police assigned to the case. It posted the matter for further hearing on March 29. The court had earlier also directed the police to ask the authorities concerned to expedite the process while granting it three weeks to procure the sanction needed to prosecute Kumar and other accused, including former JNU students, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, in the case.
