first_imgOmega Insurance Company (OIC), one of has paid death insurance claims to beneficiaries of several of its clients who lost their lives to the Ebola virus in Liberia.The gesture was carried out in Monrovia recently where families of clients who lost their lives to Ebola received various death claims.In a statement issued to journalists in Monrovia, the company clarified that the claim settlements are not part of the company’s insurance coverage, especially death related cases such as the epidemic which could be treated as “Force Majeure.”Nevertheless, management of the Omega Insurance Company, realizing its social responsibility to its clients and the urgent need to assist relatives of deceased clients in the wake of post-Ebola hardship, decided to pay benefits to the victims to complement efforts in recovering from the misfortune.According to the statement, people received benefits of their deceased relatives in different categories depending on the sum assured.The company also traveled to Bomi County in western Liberia where LD$400,000 sum assured was given to another beneficiary.The management in the statement also assured that some claims have been processed for other Ebola victims to be disbursed soon.The company said that it is in the position to always provide quality and mutually rewarding financial services in insurance to the private and public sectors of the Liberian economy as well as financial security and comfort to the mind. Omega Insurance Company expressed its wish to provide the most reliable and efficient financial service with a goal of removing fears, and establishing confidence amongst policy holders.
