Oneplus has always been at forefront when it comes to generating hype for its products. We saw that with the OnePlus 6T, where the company was able to create mega hype in the market with the smartphone’s in-display fingerprint sensor. And later at the Qualcomm Summit in Hawaii last December, they proudly announced their association with Qualcomm to bring one of the first few smartphones with 5G capability. And now, the leaks for the next generation OnePlus device are already out.Last weekend, the Internet was awash with a photo of two devices from OnePlus’ stables. The two smartphones, presumed to be the next generation OnePlus devices, have given us a preview of what to expect from the company. The biggest change that fans are anticipating is the removal of the notch and adopting the tried-and-tested slider form factor. The device will also feature curved edge displays, which are now widely adopted by manufacturers to increase the screen-to-body ratio. The other mysterious device with the waterdrop notch does bring a lot of questions. Therefore, if you are eagerly waiting for the next generation OnePlus devices, here’s what has happened so far in this regard.OnePlus 7 expected features–The OnePlus 7 will be launched sometime in 2019. This means that the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chip. For now, it’s not known whether the device will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem or use a custom 5G modem. OnePlus did mention earlier that the 5G device won’t be supporting promised gigabit-class speeds due to technology constraints.advertisement (Photo: Slashleaks)–Since the OnePlus 5T, OnePlus’ devices have been losing bezels at a rate faster than any other smartphone. The OnePlus 6T brought it down to a waterdrop notch and with the OnePlus 7, the company is getting rid of it by adopting a sliding form factor. Many other smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and Honor Magic 2 have been using the sliding form factor for achieving a fullscreen display. OnePlus’ system firm Oppo even went for a motorised slider in the Find X flagship. It will be interesting to see whether OnePlus goes for the motorised slider or a manual one. Our bet is on the manual system.–Looking at the leaked photos, it seems that OnePlus isn’t going ahead with a 3D Infrared facial recognition system unlike some of its rivals. The OnePlus 7 could end up sporting a single front rear camera and the usual array of proximity as well as auto brightness sensors. OnePlus’ front camera-based facial verification system could make it to the new model, which translates into a major cost-saving measure for the company. We expect the in-screen fingerprint sensor to make a comeback on this one as well.–The OnePlus 7 could also make the switch to curved edge display similar to Samsung’s flagship S and Note series devices. The curved edge display is a controversial feature that has created a 50-50 opinion amongst consumers. The benefit that comes with the curved edge display for OnePlus is that they will be able to reduce the screen-to-body ratio and make the device easier to use at the same time.–As with previous OnePlus devices, the OnePlus 7 will run on Oxygen OS based on Android 9 Pie. While it appears no different than the one we are used to in the present models, we expect that OnePlus will be bringing certain new navigation gestures to justify the new all-screen display.–The Alert Slider will also be repositioned and could sit just above the power/lock button. This could make it easier to reach for those with smaller hands. The Alert Slider will is one of the most useful distinctive features on a OnePlus device.OnePlus 7 Lite/ OnePlus 6T 5G–The mysterious secondary device is expected to be called either the OnePlus 6T 5G variant or the OnePlus 7 Lite, considering it’s under testing as evident from the photos. Concept: Ben Geskin)–OnePlus did say that there will be a 5G device before the OnePlus 7 launches. We expect that OnePlus could be unveiling a 5G variant of the OnePlus 6T. It could feature the more powerful Snapdragon 855 chip and feature OnePlus’ custom 5G modem.–The leak shows that this device will feature the waterdrop notch similar to the OnePlus 6T. However, the device could also feature curved edges.–OnePlus also mentioned that their first 5G device smartphone will be more expensive than the most expensive variant of the OnePlus 6T. Therefore, to justify the additional price, we could expect to see OnePlus offering the 30W Warp Charge and 10GB RAM from the McLaren Edition.advertisement–In case this mysterious device ends up launching alongside the OnePlus 7 later in the year, it could be caked the OnePlus 7 Lite.–The OnePlus 7 Lite could offer a more affordable variant of the more expensive OnePlus 7 slider model. In this way, OnePlus could follow Apple and Samsung’s model of creating multiple variants of its flagship model to enhance accessibility.ALSO READ | OnePlus 7 will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, will support 5G in EuropeALSO READ | OnePlus 5G phone could be priced around Rs 45,999, launch expected early next yearALSO READ | OnePlus 5G smartphone will be expensive, won’t offer ultimate 5G speeds
